Commercial Bank of Ceylon group has announced the appointment of Mr. Najith Meewanage as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Bangladesh Operations.
A career Banker who has served Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC throughout the entirety of his 29 years working career, Mr. Meewanage has held several key positions in the Management.
In 2015 he was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer – Bangladesh in which capacity he served and built the operations in Bangladesh.
Mr. Najith Meewanage is a MBA holder from University of Greenwich, London.
He was also a past president at Sri Lanka Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry – SLBCCI.
As part of special CSR initiative to strengthen the medical facilities in the Khulna division, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC has extended support to Sajida Foundation in their direct medical facility at the 250 Bed General Hospital, Jessore where Sajida Foundation is providing consultation, examination, ICU, HDU as well as medicinal support for the COVID-19 infected people. Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC donated 6 Syringe Pumps, 12 Pneumatic Beds, Medicine Cart and 1000 Masks to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to support the relaunch of the covid ICU center. During the first week of March the ICU of DMCH got burnt down in a devastating fire incident. The donation was accepted with much appreciation from the DMCH. The ICU was inaugurated by the Honorable Health Minister Mr. Zahid Maleque. The program was widely covered by various local TV channels and news media. CBC was thanked and mentioned many times by the DG Admin, DMCH Brig. Gen Md. Nazmul Haque.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC recently felicitated Mr Dilip Das Gupta, the Senior General Manager of the Bank’s Bangladesh operations, in appreciation of his exemplary services. An eminent banking professional of high standing, Mr Das Gupta is widely-revered for his contributions to the development of the industry. In 2003 he was made a Knight of the National Order of Merit, France’s highest civilian honour, for his outstanding contributions in the field of international banking. Mr Das Gupta is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Minority Welfare Trust, a member of the National Executive Committee of the ENT & Head-Neck Cancer Hospital, Dhaka. He has been recognized as a “Sera Kardata” by National Board of Revenue in the year 2018.
